BOSBL 2017

Senior Girls:

After coming in 3rd on the ladder in Division 2 in the regular season (and only missing second by 1 win), the girls played off for 3rd and 4th position. The girls were utterly dominant, winning 44-4 against Northside Christian College Senior Girls Team 2.

It was a great game by all the players, but several stood up in this game and were noticed by the crowd: Cheyanna Wilson played the game of her life to dominate the score board for both teams. Semika Evans controlled the play and set her teammates up beautifully.  Lucy Roper played an ‘in your face’ defence that had the other team struggling to hold on to the ball. All around, a great effort to finish 3rd for 2017 in Division 2.

Semika Evans was voted into the All-BOSBL Allstar 5 as one of the top 5 players in the division also!  Well done.

Congratulations to Mrs Coralde their coach and to the players for all the hard work they have put into their training.

Senior Boys:

For the second straight year in Division 1 of the boys competition it was Northpine versus North Lakes State Secondary College in the Grand Final. In the first game of the season after holding a lead for most of the game, we lost to North Lakes in Round 1.  This time, we came into the final with a plan to shut down their best scorer. We quickly jumped out to a 10 point lead and never looked back. Boston Evans’ incredible defensive effort on Adam Kerle (best player from the other team) to keep him to 2 points for the game and foul out due to frustration, made a huge difference. In the final, Boston was our MVP. But every player had a role to play and all did it so well! Josh Ball led the team with such class, as he has all season, Shaun and Ethan Spicer played great defensive and rebounding roles along with setting up our offense with their screens and drives.

Special mention to all the Year 12 boys who will no longer be with us next year:  Josh Ball, Boston Evans, Shaun Spicer, Ryan Cummings and Justin Narayan.  The next brigade of boys coming through will do you proud!

Also a big congratulations to Josh Ball for making the All-BOSBL Allstar 5 – voted as one of the top 5 players of the competition by all the coaches throughout the season.

Junior BOSBL:

Congratulations to the junior girls and boys A-Team for their big wins over North Lakes and Northside. We came 3rd overall in the girls and the boys.  There were some outstanding players and games this season.

Our boys B-Team came 5th in Division 2. Unfortunately their opposition went to the wrong venue and we won by default with no game played. A catch up game for the boys will be organised against Northside Christian College here at Northpine in Week 7 for the boys to play their game.

We had some outstanding individual results also, with Jayde Weir making the Allstar 5 for the girls competition and Justin Falls also making the Allstar 5 team.  This means that they were voted by the coaches across the season as in the best 5 players of the competition.

Congratulations to all the students and teachers who have put so much time into coaching and playing, at training sessions through Term 1 and 2 after school and to the parents who have supported these outstanding athletes this semester.

A big thank you to the coaches, who put the time in outside of school hours to make this happen for the students:
