Digital Thumbprint Impact
Last Wednesday our Year 9 and 10 students heard presentations from the organisation Digital Thumbprint regarding the safe use of their social media sites e.g. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, the use of hashtags… and posting of information.
The presenter, Lucy, told real life stories of how people and organisations had made huge blunders on social media and the impact that it had in their lives. This included employment loss, police intervention, use of inappropriate images and ruined reputations. The students were awakened to recognise how to protect themselves when using social media and were educated on the law regarding misuse of images and other posts.
This was a very current and worthwhile presentation for the students to take on board and learn from.
