Farmer Friday

FRIDAY, 17 AUGUST 2018

Much is being said about Jack Berne, a ten year old boy in Year 4, who initiated a fundraising idea at his school to fundraise to help the farmers who are facing record dry conditions in rural Australia. For many farmers costs are spiralling and conditions have worsened to a state where they are struggling to put food on the table for their families.

Jack’s idea is called, “A Fiver for a Farmer”. His idea is now at a point where people all over Australia are banding together to help the farmers.

On August 13 school children across Australia are asked to dress as farmers and bring five dollars to donate to drought relief and help change the future of Aussie Farmers.

Northpine Christian College is closed on this day, therefore we are unable to join them on the 13th. We do, however, want to support this project, therefore we want to encourage our school community to get involved at a later date.

We invite our school community to get behind this project and show their support by getting children to dress up as farmers on Friday, August 17 and donate a Gold Coin or more, which we can add to this very worthy initiative.

More information is available on https://afiverforafarmer.com.au/ for anyone interested in getting more involved.

Due to the fact that Prep children will be on an excursion this day, all Preps are to wear sports uniform, as instructed by their teachers. They can still contribute a Gold Coin donation or more to the project.
