District Athletics Carnival
The 10-12 yrs Pine Rivers District Athletics Carnival takes place in Week 4 on Monday 6 August and Tuesday 7 August John Oxley Reserve, Ogg Road, Murrumba Downs. Congratulations to the students who have been nominated. They are reminded to return their permission forms as soon as possible to ensure their participation in the event. The bus will leave school at 7:30am both days so students will need to be at school no later than 7:15 to check in and receive their athletics singlets. We wish them the very best in the events. Students can then be selected, if they finish in the top four of their event, for the Pine Rivers Athletics Team to compete at the Met-North Regional Championships to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday 28 and 29 August.
Lunchtime AFL Auskick
AFL Auskick will be offered next week to Prep to Year 2 students. Application forms will be given to students and anyone wishing to participate should apply as soon as possible. The program will commence on July 31 and run every Tuesday lunchtime until the end of Term 3. Each session will last from 12:50-1:20 on the college oval. Students are asked to meet the AFL coaches at the flag poles at the start of lunch and then head to the oval. Students are advised to bring a pair of sneakers to change into before each session.
Infant Sports Day (P-2 Athletics)
The day after the Ekka public holidays, on Thursday 16 August (Week 5) we will hold our Annual Infant Sports Day (P-2 Athletics). Students will compete in running races and participate in a number of sport rotation activities with their class up until lunchtime. It’s always a fun and colourful spectacle! We look forward to seeing lots of family members come and support their children.
After School Softball
Applications will be sent out soon offering an After School Softball program for Yr 3-6 students. The program is funded as part of the Sporting Schools initiative and run in conjunction with fully qualified coaches. Places are limited so please apply as soon as you receive the email. The program will run each Monday (Week 4 – 10) from 3:15-4:15pm on the college oval starting 6 August until 17 September (excluding Ekka public Holiday 13 August in Week 5). Students enrolled will need to have sports shoes and a hat to participate.
Term 3 After School Sport
The Brisbane Roar Community Team will be bringing a six week football (soccer) program to our school this term. Starting Tuesday 7 August and running for six Tuesdays (not including EKKA public holiday) until 18 September on the school oval after school, the sessions begin at 3:15 pm and run for one hour. Parents who sign their child/ren into the program are asked to promptly collect them at the end of the session. Any queries please contact Dene Almond (BRFC Community Football Team Leader) on 0410343810.
The Pine Rivers District Athletics Carnival takes place over two days in Week 4 of Term 3 (Monday and Tuesday 6-7 August) for 10-12 year old students. Selected students will be chosen based on the times and distances from our Inter-house carnival and must reach the minimum qualification standard to attend.
