Principal’s Briefing

It is hard to believe that I am writing my final newsletter for 2016 and that we are already thinking and planning for 2017.

Just a reminder that our Years 1-6 Awards Night Program is scheduled to begin at 6.30pm on Monday 5 December, while the Years 7-12 Awards Night Program will commence at 7.00pm on Tuesday 6 December.  It is important to be there and settled a little early so that we can start these programs on time.  Please note that it is important that parents supervise their students at all times on Awards Night.  As this is an official college function, we expect that all students who attend are in full and correct uniform. Thank you for your support with these important requests.

Our Prep students will have their Christmas Program on Friday 2 December, and they will receive their Completion Certificates at the end of that program.

Time has been set aside on Wednesday 7 December between the hours of 9.30am and 12.30pm for parents to discuss matters of serious concern in relation to their student’s report. Please ring College Reception after 8.30am on Wednesday morning 7 December to make an appointment.

Please note that College Reception will close for the holiday break at 4.00pm on Wednesday 14 December 2016 and re-open for business at 8.00am on Wednesday 4 January 2017. Reception will also be closed for the morning on Thursday 8 December for our staff end-of-year celebrations.

Each year we have some members of our team leave us to take up new challenges.  Having staff members move away is always sad, but they go to their new place of employment with our blessing and best wishes for the future.  Mr Clarke is retiring after many years of faithful service to Northpine and we want to wish him much of God’s blessing for the future. Ms Rogers has been an important part of our team for a number of years now and has had a positive impact our students and our community in so many ways, and we wish her much of God’s blessing as she continues ministry in a new place.  Mrs Porter has requested an extension of her special leave, but will continue to be a part of the relief teaching team at Northpine for 2017.  Mr Fraser will be taking paternity leave for 2017 and we wish him much of God’s blessing as he spends some one-on-one time with his son.

We are also saying good bye to Mrs Sonia Stephens, who has worked tirelessly, marketing Northpine in 2016.  We have been blessed by her work and wish Sonia and her family much of God’s blessing as they move to the Sunshine Coast.

With the sadness of farewells, we also have the joy of welcoming new members to the team.  Firstly, I would like to welcome Mrs Fraser (Year 2), Mrs Ward (Year 2) and Mrs Rowe (Year 3) back from maternity leave in 2017.  A big thanks to Mrs Richardson, Ms Parker and Mrs Meighan for the great work they have done filling in for these three ladies.  I would also like to thank Mrs Collins for teaching English in Mrs Bond’s absence and welcome Mrs Bond back for 2017. It is great to be able to announce that Mrs Willcocks (Maths/Science), Mr Saunders (PE/Design Tech) and Ms Houston (English/Bible) will all be joining us on the Secondary Team for 2017.  I am also pleased to announce that Mrs Richardson (Year 2) Mrs Du Plessis (Year 5) and Mrs Rustaholtz (Year 5) will be joining the Primary Team for 2017.  Finally, Mrs Meyles will continue teaching Mrs Hamilton’s Year 4 class until Mrs Hamilton returns for the beginning of Term 2 in 2017.  I would like to thank Mrs Du Plessis for her work at Northpine this year.  She has done an amazing job filling in for Mrs Porter and we are most grateful for what she has done.

Finally, I am excited to announce that our new website will go live tomorrow.  Mrs Stephens has done an incredible amount of work to make this this happen and I am sure that you will appreciate the finished product.

Thanks for taking the time to keep up with our news.

God bless

Graham Baird
