Principal’s Briefing

Welcome to the final newsletter for 2016.  We only have Prep to Year 9 students left at school this week.  Our Year 7, 8 and 9 students are finishing exams while our Primary students are well into the final week activities and all will be out on Friday enjoying some fun activities to celebrate the end of their 2016 school experience.  The year will culminate with our Awards Night Programs for our Year 1 to Year 6 students on Monday 5 December, commencing at 6.30pm and our Secondary students commencing at 7.00pm on Tuesday 6 December.  Both these programs will be held in our Indoor Sports Centre.  It is important to be there and settled a little early so that we can start these programs on time.  Please help protect our sports floor by wearing shoes with heels that are larger than a 20 cent coin. NO STILETTOS PLEASE! Thank you for your support with these important requests.

Our Prep students will have their activity day on Thursday 1 December. On Friday 2 December, there will be a special Christmas Program for our Prep students and their families in the Performing Arts Centre.

We are also excited that our Childcare and Early Learning Centre families will be having their Christmas Celebration on our campus after school on Wednesday this week.  There will also be a Graduation Celebration with those students who have completed Kindergarten, to be held in our Performing Arts Centre on Thursday 1 December.

Our teachers are busy with their final teaching responsibilities for the year, as well as finalising reports in readiness for the Awards Night Programs. Please remember that all students need to be in full uniform and that they maintain their school appropriate haircuts etc for our Awards Night Program.

A final reminder that reports will be given out at the completion of our Awards Night Program as part of the Registration Pack for 2017. They will be given out by the class/form teachers in the areas where the students were seated for the program.  Teaching staff will be available on Wednesday 7 December for parent teacher interviews (by appointment) where there are specific concerns that you wish to discuss in relation to your child’s report.  Please contact reception to book an appointment.

Please note that our Reception Office will be closed 8 December for staff Christmas function.  Reception will officially close for the Christmas holidays at 4.00pm Wednesday 14 December and will re-open at 8.00am Wednesday 4 January 2017.

A final word on staffing (oops, a senior moment!) Mr Gates will be leaving us to head nearer home for 2017. He will be missed but we are grateful for his contribution over the past few years.  I would like to thank Ms Groves for her work with Year 2 over the past six months and wish her much of God’s blessing for the future.  I am pleased to announce that Mr Andrew Schnell will be joining the team to head up our Marketing Program for 2017.

I trust you will all have a safe and restful holiday.

God Bless

Graham Baird
