Year 12 Dedication Night

On Wednesday 14 November, the Northpine Year 12 Class of 2018 gathered in the Performing Arts Centre for their Dedication. The Northpine Chaplaincy Department ran the service, saying, “As the Class of 2018 looks forward to the next phase of their lives, they will be challenged to apply the academic, spiritual and life skills they have learnt at Northpine. It is also an opportunity to dedicate these students to a life of service for others, and for God.”

The program was formal, with speeches from the Principal, Mr Graham Baird, and the Senior Coordinator, Mr Rob Wareham. Year 12 student Shayleigh Melville performed an original song for her classmates. School Captains Benjamin Holmlund and Natalia Perez both addressed their class and thanked their families and teachers for their support throughout the years. Guest speaker Chris Starrett, a former Northpine teacher who taught the Class of 2018 when they were in Year 8, spoke on the importance of setting goals for your life.

At the end of the service, each member of the class brought a lantern to the front. All lanterns were lit from the same candle, symbolising the gifts and knowledge each of the students acquired during their time at Northpine. They were challenged to take their lanterns and share them with the world. As they stood on the stage, their Year 12 teachers—Aimee Page, Colin Wilson and Christia Willcocks—read the final roll call. Northpine Christian College would like to congratulate the Class of 2018 on finishing their schooling and we all look forward to seeing where their light spreads.
